If you’d like to venture into a cavern, take a tour of Hato Caves, open daily except Monday. Guided tours take your family through the stalactite and stalagmite filled rooms, several of which include pools or waterfalls. The walk is fairly easy.
Christoffel National Park
Nature lovers should save time for a visit to Christoffel National Park, on the western end of the island. This wildlife preserve includes the island’s highest point and 20 miles of trails that wind through local flora and fauna. Don’t be surprised to see some native wildlife in the park; it is home to iguanas, donkeys, small deer, rabbits, and many bird species.
Sea Aquarium Park
The Sea Aquarium Park is one of the Caribbean’s finest marine exhibits and a definite winner with kids. Along with tanks of local fish, coral, and sponges, the aquarium also has several outdoor tanks with larger species—including sharks, sea turtles, and stingrays. At the Curaçao Dolphin Academy, visitors get the opportunity to meet dolphins and swim, snorkel, or even dive with these special animals. There is the Dolphin Encounter, a program for all ages
The Curaçao Ostrich Farm is not only one of the biggest farms in the Caribbean, it’s even one of the biggest outside of Africa. It offers an interesting view at how ostriches live and breed. You can take a look around the farm with a population of over 600 birds. Or take a guided tour around the farm and find out all there is to know about these magnificent birds.
